Publications & presentations
Reports, articles, and talks on information models, standards, and semantic interoperability.
Below is a selection of reports, articles, and presentations. Much of this work was produced for Forum Standaardisatie, commissioned by municipalities, or in an academic context (TU Delft). The list is updated periodically.
- Onderzoeksrapport
International research commissioned by Forum Standaardisatie into open standards for data portability, interoperability, and security in cloud services. Six key conclusions on gaps, vendor lock-in, and AI impact. Co-authored with Jeroen de Ruig (Waal en Berg). The report was widely picked up: Forum Standaardisatie published an official news item (August 2024), IT Channel Pro/Cloudworks and iBestuur (with interviews with chair Larissa Zegveld and professor Rudi Bekkers) covered it extensively, and in 2025 Forum Standaardisatie explicitly cited the report as a starting point for follow-up work on the Cloud dossier (cover note FS-20250625.3).
- Open source publicatie
The Gemeentelijk Gegevensmodel has been continuously published as an open source model with full documentation, releases, and a public issue tracker, with Arjen Brienen as its founder and lead architect. Now in use by more than 150 municipalities, with a community of over 400 members. Winner of GemeenteDelers 2022, Common Ground Gold qualification. The model is widely supported by vendors (PinkRoccade, Centric, Enable U, Aurai, Centennium) and receives coverage in trade media and from knowledge institutions.
